Those wanting to beat traffic by leaving during the encore missed a reunion of all reunions. The historical night, which started with a nearly two hour amazing, energetic performance by Journey, included a guitar breakout by Neal Schon, in which he performed a rocking rendition of the National Anthem with a digital waving flag and patriotic fireworks display on the screens behind him.

Journey ran through years of hits including “Anyway You Want It,” “Faithfully,” “Open Arms,” and “Don’t Stop Believing” and just when the audience thought things couldn’t possibly get any better — out walked House of Blues Las Vegas headliner Carlos Santana and Gregg Rolie, who jammed with Schon and the band for several songs.

This marked the first time since 1972 that Rolie (an original member of the Santana band) and Schon (an early member who joined the band in ’71) played on stage with Carlos. Rolie and Schon both left the Santana band and eventually joined other artists to create Journey.
