This isn’t your average sing-along. Kids in Aspen who attend the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies fundraiser on Tuesday will be treated to a jam session and reading from upbeat musician Michael Franti. The artist, known for hits like “The Sound of Sunshine” and “Say Hey,” recently released his second children’s book “Where In The World Is Away?” which is a story about the importance of recycling, reducing waste, and re-using.

The $100 donation per child includes a personalized signed hardcover book and a humorous read-along CD featuring Franti. It takes place at ACES’ Hallam Lake from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20. The fundraiser benefits ACES’ Children’s Education Fund, which provides full-time environmental science education programs in Aspen Elementary School, Basalt Elementary School, and now Crystal River Elementary School in Carbondale.

For an adult version of Michael Franti, people can still try to score tickets to his performance at Belly Up Aspen on Monday, Aug. 19. The show is sold out, but keep your ear to the ground for people who may be trying to unload a few of their tickets.
