Haute Event: The Rita Hayworth Gala Hamptons Kick-Off

The Rita Hayworth Gala celebrated its annual kick-off at Ashgrove Farm in Watermill on Friday. Hosted by Robin and Roger Meltzer at their Southampton home, the cocktail reception served as a preview for the yearly gala that furthers the Alzheimer’s Association. Notable attendees at the cocktail kick-off included Alexandra Lebenthal, Jay Diamond, Prince Dimitri of Yugoslavia, Bettina Zilkha, Ron Wendt, Baroness Sheri de Borchgrave, Lauren Thayer, Lisa Lori and Harry Johns.

Founded by Hayworth’s doting daughter, Princess Yasmin Aga Khan, the event honors the famed actress who died of Alzheimer’s in 1987. Since its genesis, the philanthropic fête has raised more than $60 million for the American organization and offered invaluable support. The benefit includes a cocktail reception, a three-course gourmet meal, a program, live auctions and a special performance from Grammy Award-Winning artist Diana Krall. Chaired by Nicole Sexton, the 30th Anniversary Rita Hayworth Gala will take place on October 22 at Manhattan’s Waldorf Astoria.
