Fashion Designer Derek Lam Releases Limited-Edition Wine
Like most fashion designers, Derek Lam is busy preparing for fashion week. But in his downtime, the 47-year-old decided to toy with winemaking.
Lam recently partnered with Cliff Lede Vineyards in California’s Napa Valley to produce a limited edition Cabernet Sauvignon. Called “Poetry by Derek Lam,” the full-bodied wine is expected to hit stores in October. “[It] was totally unexpected but a totally interesting project,” Lam told Women’s Wear Daily.”
Though making wine and designing clothes require a different set of skills, Lam says that he has actually discovered quite a few parallels during the creation process. “The most exciting intersection is that [each] comes from a passion for imagination and creativity,” he explained.
