Haute Event: 2013 Home Run Derby Viewing Party with John Franco & Darryl Strawberry

Manhattan’s biggest baseball fans gathered at Slate Restaurant Bar & Billiards on July 15 for the 2013 Home Run Derby Viewing Party sponsored by Haute Living, Talent Resources and Joonbug.com. Following a silent auction of baseball memorabilia from Steiner Sports, guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers prepared by Lyfe kitchen with New York City baseball legends John Franco and Darryl Strawberry.

Franco served as a relief pitcher and team captain for the New York Mets. With 1,119 games pitched and 424 career saves, the Brooklyn native is considered one of the top players in the Mets’ legacy. Strawberry, an eight-time All-Star, is considered one of the most feared sluggers in the game with 335 career home runs. During his 17-year career, he helped lead the Mets to a World Series championship in 1986 and the New York Yankees to three World Series championships in 1996, 1998 and 1999.

Throughout the evening, the two baseball greats walked throughout the 16,000 square foot space shaking hands and posing for pictures with fans. After the game, musician Nick Cannon stepped up to the plate and performed a DJ set that had everyone on their feet.
