Skadron Sworn in as Aspen Mayor

News | June 11, 2013

Steve Skadron was sworn in as Aspen’s new mayor Monday night. He replaces outgoing mayor Mick Ireland, who served for six years and left office due to term limits. Two new council members, Ann Mullins and Art Daily, were also sworn in. Skadron won the seat in a runoff election last week, defeating then-current councilman Torre, who is also out due to term limits.

The runoff election leaves a vacant seat on city council, and one of the first priorities in Skadron’s new position will be filling that role with a deadline of July 10. Skadron ran on a thoughtful development, sustainable business, pro-environment platform and was endorsed by Ireland. Adam Frisch, who also ran for mayor during the first election in May, will remain on city council as the fourth member.
