The Summer Solstice coincided with the Hollywood Bowl‘s opening night gala, which can only truly mean one thing: summer is officially here.

On Saturday evening, Patti Austin, John Legend and Steven Tyler & Joe Perry of Aerosmith were inducted in the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame.

Academy Award winning actress Angela Bassett hosted the evening, which was also attended by Arsenio Hall, Stevie Wonder and Peter Fonda, who presented the honorees with their awards.

The inductees also performed with the LA Phil Harmonic, conducted by Thomas Wilkins.

Darren Criss of Fox’s “Glee” was also on hand to introduce YOLA, the Youth Orchestra L.A after performing himself with the John Burroughs High School Powerhouse Show Choir.

Proceeds from the event went to the LA Phil and its education programs, which reach more than 120,000 children, teachers and adults every year.

This year’s benefit, chaired by Barbara Rasulo and Jay Rasulo, chief financial officer of Walt Disney Co., chaired the event, raised more than $1 million
