New York Palace Undergoes $140 Million Makeover

NY Palace

The New York Palace is getting quite the luxury makeover for a $140 million bill. After its 14-month redesign, the five-star Midtown favorite is unveiling the first part: a glamorous marble lobby and swanky oversized Tower suites. Future glimpses will reveal the rest of the renovations, including lobby areas, new bars, rooms and suites. New amenities include a gourmet restaurant and patisserie by Chef Michel Richard, along with a 26,000 square-foot retail space in the courtyard of its Villard Houses.

David McCaslin, President of Northwood Hospitality, presaged the 55-story hotel’s comeback, telling New York Daily News, “With the views, history and location, this hotel is a New York icon. This will be the best hotel in New York again.”

The Palace’s A-list clientele, which previously featured Rudy Giuliani, Derek Jeter, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, and Blake Lively‘s Gossip Girl character will likely burgeon once the makeover finishes in September.
