On 5 June Giorgio Armani hosted One Night Only Roma to celebrate the opening of his new boutique on Via Condotti on the corner of Mario de’ Fiori in the heart of Rome’s historic center.

The boutique is designed by Giorgio Armani and his team of architects. It covers over 900 square meters across three floors and features a total of nine windows. The store is divided into two independent areas – one for womenswear and the other for menswear accessed by different entrances. The boutique is only the second Giorgio Armani boutique (after the one in Paris situated on Avenue Montaigne) to have a dedicated area that presents accessories from the Giorgio Armani Privé Collection and where customers can order custom-made haute couture bags and shoes.

The special One Night Only Roma event took place at the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, an icon of twentieth-century Roman architecture and one of the main landmarks of the EUR district. The venue also hosts the exhibition Eccentrico, an exhibition presenting 62 outfits from the Giorgio Armani and Giorgio Armani Privé collections. The show featured new versions of the autumn/winter 2013-14 Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani catwalk presentations for men and women, as well as a showcase of the spring/summer 2013 Giorgio Armani Privé Collection. The fashion show was followed by glamorous party attended by some of the world’s most renowned celebrities including Tina Turner, Sophia Loren, Ennio Morricone and Milla Jovovich.

“Rome always fascinates me,” says Armani. “It is such a powerful city, rich in history and unique sights. As beautiful as the most sumptuous of sets, it never ceases to enchant me. It is the city of a thousand films; a city that seduces the world, contributing to that sensual, sunny image for which Italy is known, and which characterizes a style of life that has come to be generally perceived as the expression of a dream and of strong, positive values.” His new store on Via Condotti certainly reflects these beliefs.

After touring Milan, Tokyo and Hong Kong, the Eccentrico exhibition is now open in Rome until 9 June, from 11:00am to 9:00 pm.
