David Sanborn Lists Upper West Side Townhouse for $12 Million

Sanborn 6

David Sanborn, renowned jazz guru, is selling his snazzy Upper West Side brownstone for a smooth $12 million. For nearly 25 years, Sanborn and his wife have enjoyed the two outdoor spaces, stained glass, original wood paneling, century-old oak coffered ceilings, six fireplaces and leather and wood furniture. Sanborn loves his stylish abode, off Columbus Avenue and West 69th Street, and its local treasures, including Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Trader Joe’s and Ocean Grill—not to mention his neighbors. He and his wife, Sofia, plan to keep a place in the city but look forward to a quiet refuge in the country, similar to his current soundproof studio with leaded sheet rock. Aside from finding a new home for his six Grammy awards, Sanborn is touring worldwide for his latest album, Quartette Humaine, with pianist Bob James.
