Janelle Monae to Headline the Inaugural SF Symphony Spring Gala

Spring Symphony Invitation

JanelleMonae_shot1_039R&B singer, songwriter, and fashion icon Janelle Monáe—who rocked last year’s Black & White Ball—is headlining the San Francisco Symphony’s first Spring Gala on Thursday, May 16.

The evening begins at 5:30pm in City Hall with a cocktail and dinner party, followed by the 8pm concert featuring the San Francisco Symphony and Janelle Monáe. The inaugural event will feature Monáe’s funky, soulful hip-hop and R&B style in combination with brand new orchestral arrangements of her songs, plus new material from her upcoming album.

After the concert, all ticketholders are invited to a swank after-party in City Hall that will feature live music, cocktails, and savory treats. The Spring Gala will raise money for the Symphony’s education programs, which reach over 75,000 children each year. Tickets are still available at www.sfsymphony.org/janelle.

In the meantime, Symphonix held a pre-gala shindig of their own. The SF Symphony young professionals gathered for a launch party at the Crown Room at the Fairmont Hotel in anticipation of the Symphony’s first Spring Gala. Check out pics from the fabulous party.  Credit: Ellian Raffoul for Moanalani Jeffrey Photography
