In celebration of the 25th anniversary of partnership between the iconic Mille Miglia race and Chopard, the luxury maison hosted the California Mille. Drawing upon the original Italian race from Brescia to Rome and back, the California Mille is a four-day event in which historic racecars cover 1,000 miles along the picturesque back roads and historical highways of Northern California and Nevada. Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, the Co-President of Chopard, cites classic cars right up with fine watchmaking as his passions. “Lovers of fine automobiles are said to have a weakness for precious timekeepers and vice versa. In both domains, extreme precision and sporting elegance play an important role,” says Scheufele. Some 65 historic cars departed from the Fairmont San Francisco and enthused onlookers all the way on their journey to Calistoga.
