Haute 100 Miami Update: Stephen Ross Pledges Half of His Worth to Charity

Stephen Ross, the billionaire owner of the Miami Dolphins, is one of the latest additions to The Giving Pledge, a group of millionaires and billionaires who joined with Warren Buffet and Bill and Melinda Gates in pledging half of their worth to charity. Ross, currently in the news for his attempts to refurbish Dolphin Stadium, is worth $4.4 billion according to Forbes and in pledging joins the likes of Diane Von Furstenberg and George Lucas.

In his pledge letter, Ross explains that while he has preferred to keep his philanthropic work private, he hopes that “…through publicly committing to the Giving Pledge… [he] will inspire others to commit to significant philanthropy the way [his] uncle inspired [him].”

Ross will focus his philanthropic efforts in improving sustainability in cities, explaining that he has “…always believed that if our cities do well, we all do well.” In order to attain this goal..
