Miami's Performing Arts District

The Adrienne Arsht Center has received a $250,000 grant from ArtPlace to create an Office of Neighborhood Development. ArtPlace is a group dedicated to “placemaking” artistic areas across the US. The group gave the Arsht center $300,000 in 2011 to create a master plan for the recently blighted areas in their immediate neighborhood, and have given a second round of funding to put it into action. The area is of particular interest for its proximity to the center and Miami’s new museum corridor.

The grant makes the Adrienne Arsht Center unique in having its own office to help develop its own neighborhood. The group will be working with Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Florida Department of Transportation, Pérez Art Museum Miami, Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, City of Miami, Miami-Dade County, the Miami Downtown Development Authority, and private property owners.
