Famed Prague Eatery Barock Opens On Ocean Drive

Father-daughter team Tommy Sjöö and Jessica Sjöö have brought their popular Prague restaurant to Ocean Drive. Barock has become a landmark in Prague and is part of the prominent Pravda Group, whose success in the restaurant industry is recognized all over Europe. Having successfully opened over twenty restaurants in Europe, Barock is the company’s first North America location.

The menu is comprised of a wide variety of worldly flavors inspired by co-owner Jessica Sjöö and her late mother. Dishes include Coconut Cured Lobster made with coconut milk and grapefruit served with homemade yuca chips, Tom Yam Soup with vegetables, locally sourced fish, tiger prawn and coriander, and Pork Bo Ssam ‘tacos’ of shredded pork, baby greens, scallion pancakes, sambal and homemade kimchi. Barock also offers a lengthy list of hand-crafted cocktails created with locally sourced ingredients such as the Electric Lemonade with ginger vodka, fresh lemon juice, soda, and house-made lemongrass ginger syrup and the Bell Pepper Gin Fizz mixed with fresh yellow pepper juice, lemon, honey and gin.

A stunning chandelier hangs in the cozy restaurant with cream banquets decorated with lush patterned pillows. The main dining room is sleek and modern with splashes of vibrant red and walls peppered with the photos and autographs of celebrities who have dined at Barock, such as Argentina and Czech Republic presidents, the King and Queen of Sweden, Elton John, Johny Depp, Clavin Klein, Hillary Clinton and local Miami Beach resident, Matt Damon.
