David Lefevre Opens Fishing with Dynamite Today in Manhattan Beach
One of the most highly anticipated restaurants of the year is finally opening its doors today.
David LeFevre, the mastermind behind the divine M.B. Post, will welcome patrons into Fishing with Dynamite today in Manhattan Beach.
Seafood takes precedence at this intimate, 36-seat eatery. There’s a raw bar with offerings of dungeness crab, cherry stone clams and California sea urchin.
This concept restaurant will blend new school and old school items on its menu. The New School section will fuse creative pairings like Grilled Octopus with Tomato-Harissa-Date Chutney, White Beans and Preserved Lemons, or Miso Alaskan Black Cod with Gingered Eggplant and Thai Basil.
The Old School portion of the menu leans heavily on LeFevre’s nostalgia for East Coast favorites such as New England Style Manilla Clam Chowder with Nueskies Bacon and Maryland Style Blue Crab Cakes with Housemade Pickles and Whole Grain Remoulade.
Other dishes on the menu include items like Flat Iron Steak with Shishito Peppers and Soy Lime Gastrique or a Crispy Pork Belly with White Corn Grits and Spiced Green Tomato Relish and a cold Blueberry-Lemon Shake served with Warm Blueberry-Lemon Pan Perdue.
The space is just as inviting as its fare sounds. LeFevre’s longtime friends Julie Fisher and Rachel Crowl of FC Studio designed the space to give it a comfortable beach cottage vibe. The exterior is painted in shades of seal skin grey and caviar; white walls are dotted with playful artwork LeFevre has collected over the years.
Fishing with Dynamite will open daily for dinner from 5pm to 10:30pm with lunch coming soon. The restaurant is located at 1148 Manhattan Avenue in Manhattan Beach.
