On Saturday night, Madonna presented the Vito Russo Award to Anderson Cooper at the GLAAD Media Awards in NYC. The pop star also spoke out about the organization’s campaign for the Boy Scouts of America to end its ban on gay scouts and scout leaders. “I think they should change their stupid rules, don’t you?” Madonna quipped, while dressed in Scouting gear.

The Vito Russo Award is presented to an openly lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting equality. Previous Vito Russo honorees include Ricky Martin, Rosie O’Donnell, Alan Cumming, Cynthia Nixon, Nathan Lane, Cherry Jones, Elton John, Brian Graden and Tom Ford.

Film director Bret Ratner, TV drama ‘Smash’ and reality series ‘The Amazing Race’ were also honored by GLAAD for fair depictions of gay characters in media.
