Chad Smith’s (of Red Hot Chili Peppers) Band Plays in Aspen

Chad Smith’s Bombastic Meatbats are coming to Belly Up Aspen this weekend. The supergroup of sorts is made up of Smith, who is the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer, guitarist Jeff Kollman, from Cosmosquad, bassist Kevin Chown, of Uncle Kracker and Tarja Turunen, and keyboardist Ed Roth, of Coolio and Sophie B. Hawkins. Smith is a Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Award winner. The band is known for its instrumental funk sound. They’ve released their third album, “Live Meat and Potatoes,” which includes live versions of songs from their first two studio releases, “Meet the Meatbats” (an iTunes Top 10 Jazz Album) and “More Meat” (iTunes Top 10 Jazz Album & Billboard Top 25 Jazz Album).

The Bombastic Meatbats show starts at 10:45 p.m. Tickets are $28 in advance, $32/day of. For more information, visit here.
