Haute 100 New York Update: Beyoncé Releases New Music
Beyoncé is back and fiercer than ever! The 31-year-old pop star posted a new gritty song on her website entitled “Bow Down/I Been On” alongside an image of her younger self wearing a pageant gown and surrounded by trophies.
“I took some time to live my life, but don’t think I’m just his little wife,” Beyoncé sings on the Hit Boy-produced track. “Don’t get it twisted, get it twisted, this my s–t, bow down bitches.”
Though “Bow Down/I Been On” sounds unlike anything else Bey has ever released, her longtime collaborator and friend The-Dream said that they weren’t aiming for a particular type of sound. “We’re just trying to make music that feels good,” he recently told RapFix Live. “If you seen the HBO thing, which was great, we had been talking about doing something that showcases who she is and what she wants because we see those figures that are so out of the stratosphere.”
The song also serves as a teaser for the Beyoncé’s new album, which is slated to be released during her upcoming 42-city world tour that kicks off April 15th in Belgrade, Serbia. The tour wraps up Aug. 4 in Brooklyn.
