Upscale department store Barneys New York is reportedly in the process of eliminating its more affordable branch, Barneys Co-Op, including a location at Los Angeles’ The Grove. Over the summer, the current Barneys Co-Op at The Grove will be transformed into a Barneys New York store.

According to WWD, two of the largest Co-Op locations, on New York’s Upper West Side and Los Angeles’ The Grove shopping center, “will be renovated and rebranded as regular Barneys by this summer.”  Citing “sources close to Barneys,” WWD says the rebranding of these two locations is “a prelude to the transformation of its entire Co-op fleet, including the possible elimination of the nameplate from freestanding stores.”

During the transformation, the store will remain open. In addition to the Co-Op becoming a Barneys New York, LA Curbed reports, “there will also be a big inventory shift.” The entire upstairs area will be filled with women’s items, more jewelry, bags and shoes will be added and the “menswear will be removed.”
