On Saturday, February 9, The Collection in Coral Gables and The Ferrari Club of America will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Ferrari Club of America.
The celebration will take place from 7 – 10 p.m. at The Collection, located at 200 Bird Road in Coral Gables. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida.
The 50th anniversary celebration, dubbed “Passione” started at Concorse Italiano in 2012 and launched the 599 Relay car as it began a 20,000-mile journey across North America to visit every region and chapter. The one-off Ferrari 599GTB-HGTE was built specifically for Passione and is the very last North America specification 599 produced. It features a unique paint scheme and interior design, as well as custom graphics representing the 50-year history of The Ferrari Club of America.
Member and patron Jim Taylor of TaylorMade Marine will be the proud owner of the specially-made Ferrari once the 50th anniversary journey is complete. A high-quality 1/43rd scale model of the 599 Relay Car was commissioned by the Ferrari Club of America, which will be in limited edition of 500 pieces, which will be sold exclusively through the online Regalia store along with new 50th anniversary shirts, caps, jackets and commemoratives.
The Ferrari Club of America began in 1962 as a small organization of approximately a dozen “diehard enthusiasts to 5,000 members who participate in hundreds of diverse activities every year, according to their website. Members are able to partake in events in their home region and/or any of the other 16 regions and 35 chapters across the U.S., Canada and Mexico. There is also a full calendar of events including social gatherings, parties, track events, rallies, drives and charitable events, along with an annual meeting with hundreds of Ferrari’s and members from around the world.
