For three weeks leading up to the 85th Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood on February 24, the Academy is sending an Oscar statuette on the road to meet movie fans in select cities, starting in New York and ending at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

The ‘Oscar Roadtrip’ will start in New York on Monday and travel to cities such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix, before concluding the journey on February 24 in L.A. The three-week adventure will feature the Oscar statute popping up in all kinds of places where fans will get the chance to win prizes and get their photo taken with the statute.

Movie fans can follow the statuette’s tour online at OscarRoadtrip.com, at the Twitter feed @OscarRoadtrip and at Facebook.com/TheAcademy.

Despite there still being a few days left before the official country tour starts, Roadtrip reporter Ben Gleib spent time with Oscar on Chelsea Lately where show regulars Heather McDonald and Brad Wollack posed with the golden statute.
