Cochon 555 is a traveling culinary competition and tasting event celebrating 5 the 5 year anniversary. Each year there are 5 chefs, 5 pigs, 5 winemakers. The event was started to promote sustainable farming of heritage breed pigs. This year Cochon 555 took place at Pier 60 in NYC.

All the contestants were women, the line up included Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli of Butter, Elizabeth Falkner of Krescendo, Top Chef Alum Leah Cohen of Pig and Khao, Shanna Pacifico of Back Forty West, and Missy Robbins of A Voce. The butcher was Sarah Bigelow of the Meat Hook and the Heritage BBQ was prepared by Sue Torres of Suenos.

Twenty judges and 400 guests pick the winning chef by voting on the “best bite of the day”. The winner was Missy Robbins, and she was crowned “Princess of Pork.” Her dishes showed sophisticated flavors and pairings in her classic dishes. Next stop for her is the Grand Cochon event at the FOOD & WINE Classic, at the Hotel Jerome, in Aspen on Sunday, June 16.
