For the past 50 years, Reverend Cecil Williams and wife Janice Mirikitani have been beacons of hope for the San Francisco community.  As the driving forces of San Francisco’s famed Glide Memorial United Methodist Church, they have fought for the city’s poor, mentally ill, and the downtrodden.

Rev. Williams, founder and minister at Glide, and Mirikitani, the president of the Glide Foundation, have told their story in their new book, Beyond the Possible: 50 Years of Creating Radical Change in a Community Called Glide. In ‘Beyond the Possible’, Williams and Mirikitani tell the story of how they transformed a small parish set in “the last circle of Hell” into a groundbreaking community devoted to radical social change.

The Board of Trustees of the Glide Foundation celebrated the launch of Beyond the Possible at Epic Roasthouse in San Francisco.  The event drew support from San Francisco’s finest including Mayor Ed Lee.
