Haute Scene : 22nd Annual Children’s Defense Fund Gala
Haute Hollywood gathered at the Beverly Hills Hotel on December 6th to recognize five exceptional Los Angeles high school “stars” for their academic achievements. The Children’s Defense Fund kicked of its 22nd annual “Beat the Odds” gala with a cocktail party, followed by a dinner and inspirational awards ceremony. Actress Michelle Monaghan gave a short speech before Reese Witherspoon, Elisabeth Shue, Zoe Saldana, Trey Thompkins and Conan O’Brien presented each of the selected teenagers with a $10,000 college scholarship. Children’s Defense Fund President Marian Wright Edelman hosted the evening, which was attended by the likes of J.J. Abrams, Laura Wasserman and Kevin Huvane.
