Barbara Walters Hospitalized After Inauguration Weekend Fall

News | January 21, 2013

ABC news veteran Barbara Walters was taken to the hospital on Saturday night after she fell on a step at the residence of Britain’s ambassador to the United States, Peter Westmacott.

According to ABC News spokesman Jeffrey Schneider, Walters, 83, cut her forehead, but remained alert after the accident. She was “telling everyone what to do, which we all take as a very positive sign,” he said.

Walters had been scheduled to contribute to ABC’s coverage of the second-term inauguration of President Barack Obama, who is set to give a speech during formal ceremonies Monday.
