Zaha Hadid To Design Skyscraper in Downtown Miami

News | December 18, 2012

Miami loves their starchitects, so it was only a matter of time before architectural-world darling Zaha Hadid came to put her mark on the city. Gregg Covin and Louis Birdman of 1000 Biscayne Tower, LLC are responsible for bringing Zaha in to design a high rise on the space where a BP Station currently stands. Although the Baghdad-born Londoner is considered one of the premier architects in the world, the building will be Hadid’s first in the western hemisphere.

Hadid is known for fluid and undulating lines and unabashed futuristic designs. Her designs have included the aquatic center at the London Olympics and special edition motor yachts. She heads up her own 350 person design firm Zaha Hadid Architects in London and, in 2008, was ranked 69th on Forbes list of “The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.” Her building will be situated across from Museum Park and quite possibly the most iconic of them all.
