The Wizard of Oz Gets a Modern Remix at London’s Barbican

News | December 21, 2012

If you are still looking for the last minute present that will surprise and delight we have just the thing for you. For two days only The Wizard of Oz is coming to London’s Barbican Centre – but this is not just any screening of the beloved classic, it is nothing less than an extravaganza. For this very special presentation a live orchestra will accompany the cherished 1939 masterpiece.

Conductor Neil Thomson will be leading the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera as Dorothy sings Somewhere Over the Rainbow and as our favourite foursome joins in on Follow the Yellow Brick Road. In fact, the orchestra will accompany all the original vocals including every singing member of Lollipop Guild and Glenda too. There’s just something about the timeless tale and the old-fashioned Technicolor of it all, but it is the soundtrack that makes us fall in love with Judy Garland, Frank Morgan, Ray Bolger and Bert Lahr all over again every time. Young or old, this is one present that won’t be soon forgotten.

Screenings:
December 22, 7pm
December 23, 4:45pm
