Michael Jackson ‘Bad’ Jacket, Costumes and Memorabilia Sold at Julien’s Auctions

During a recent auction at Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles, Michael Jackson costumes, including a jacket he wore during his ‘Bad’ tour, fetched thousands of dollars from bidders and collectors, including Lady Gaga.
Known for their expertise in entertainment memorabilia, Julien’s Auctions is widely considered the premier auction house in high profile celebrity and entertainment items. According to their website, Julien’s “presents exciting, professionally managed and extremely successful auctions of entertainment memorabilia with full color high quality auction catalogs unlike any other auction company.”
At a recent auction, various Michael Jackson memorabilia from the collection of the pop star’s costume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush commanded hundreds of thousands of dollars, and Lady Gaga even got involved in the bidding. According to The Huffington Post, following the auction, “Lady Gaga tweeted that she bought 55 pieces in the sale … and plans to keep the items achieved and expertly cared for in the spirit and love of Michael Jackson, his bravery and fans worldwide.” Entertainment Weekly reports that Lady Gaga placed bids on items such as a Jackson-worn glitter glove. She also tweeted the following photo, holding the auction catalogue and paddle.

The ‘Bad’ jacket reportedly was sold for $240,000 and two crystal-encrusted gloves sold for more than $100,000 each, according to auctioneer Darren Julien.
A portion of the auction’s proceeds will benefit Guide Dogs of America and Nathan Andelson Hospice of Las Vegas. The entire auction of costumes and other memorabilia from the career of Michael Jackson netted over $5 million.
