Designer Derek Mattison has just opened his brand’s first retail outpost on Melrose Place in Los Angeles. Known for his impeccably cut skinny lapel suits and tailoring talents, Mattison teams up with design collective Commune to create the space’s clean-lined aesthetics.

The new menswear boutique is located along the tree-line Melrose Place and according to GQ, the store is in good company, sitting alongside “some of fashion’s more forward-thinking brands.” LA Racked reports the new store is “nestled between Marni and the future home of Isabel Marant”.

Inside, the store features Commune-created clean-lined aesthetics, with touches of opulence such as “brass panels, antique furniture” and there is a fireplace in the changing room. The store offers Mattison’s tailored line of suits and denim, in addition to his collection of neckties and footwear.

A dinner party was held last week to celebrate the opening of the flagship location, and Mattison told LA Cubed, “When he first started looking for spaces in Los Angeles, Melrose Place was a ‘no-brainer’…he’s already well acquainted with the area and named nearby ink.sack a go-to-lunch spot that he hits up.”

The Mattison store is located at 8458 Melrose Place in Los Angeles and is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
