A three-story, $31 million apartment-building conversion downtown is about to become the City of Angels’ newest ‘secret garden’ hotel.

The LA Times reports that a group of developers are ready to move on the property and turn it into a 44-room ‘park-like’ hotel.

Trees and plants will grow inside the hotel, which is located near the Staples Center, while ivy will sprout from its courtyard and landscaped rooftop.

An additional intriguing detail, reports the Times, is a “separate glassed-in structure for an artist-in-residence’.

The developers should be submitting their proposal to the city this week in the hopes of beginning construction in early 2013.
