Okku Wins Big at Caterer Middle East Awards 2012

OKKU Luxury Japanese Restaurant and Lounge wins big for the second year in a row after claiming four of the most prestigious accolades at the recent Caterer Middle East Awards 2012 – ‘Restaurant of the Year,’ ‘Chef of the Year,’ ‘Sommelier of the Year,’ ‘Bar of the Year’ and a ‘Highly Commended Bartender of the Year’.

The Caterer Middle East Awards are recognized as the leading industry awards in the Middle East; the individual categories are judged by a panel of industry experts looking for exceptional growth, innovation, development and individual skills. Speaking about OKKU’s success, Co-Founder Markus Thesleff said; “Since we launched in 2009 the emphasis has been on constantly evolving and improving on every aspect of the venue from food to service to skill.  It is testament to the effort of the whole team that we have been recognized for a second year as the leading restaurant and bar, as well as the individual awards for our incredible Executive Chef Hugh Sato Gardiner and talented Head Sommelier Garth Beer.”

OKKU will soon launch its London flagship as well as a diffusion concept in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the coming year. Further international expansion is planned for major cities including Casablanca, Las Vegas and Mumbai.
