InterContinental Miami Invests $30 Million in Upgrades for Downtown Flagship Property

The InterContinental Miami has invested $30 million in upgrades to its 34-story downtown property.

Located next to downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park, the InterContinental Miami has released a 19-story “digital canvas” to light up the downtown skyline with multimedia presentations as well as plans to fully renovate the hotel’s suites with Venus Williams’ V Starr Interiors. They will also introduced Toro Toro, a Pan-Latin steakhouse.

Featuring 641 guest rooms, including 34 suites, the InterContinental Miami has seen an upswing in performance over the past few years and the occupancy rate for 2012 is on track to be approximately 4-5% higher than its peak year in 2007. Averaging 6-12% annual revenue per available room growth since 2010, the hotel expects renovations to be complete this fall.

General Manager of InterContinental Miami, Robert Hill, said, “When our guests walk through the doors of the new InterContinental Miami, they will be stepping inside a hotel that captures the pulse of the city.”

Renovations will include an entrance with customizable lighting and sound elements and an LED marquee welcoming guests. Guests will be able to order cocktails, plan local outings and book restaurant reservations and spa appointments by way of touchscreen coffee tables throughout the lobby.
