Haute Event: Flexjet and Bombardier Premiere Learjet 85 At The Intrepid

Overcast skies and a light drizzle did little to dampen the turnout at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on Wednesday for the unveiling of the Learjet 85. Flexjet and Bombardier hosted the evening and showed off the business aircraft whose bleeding edge features include unique composite building materials that reduce drag, increase efficiency and lengthen lifespan.The 85 is capable of speeds up to Mach 0.82.

The Learjet was flanked by Rolls Royce Phantom Series II and Ghost models that were available for white knuckle-inducing test drives on the nearby West Side Highway. Guests enjoyed wine from Freemark Abbey and Blackbird Vineywards and chocolates from Emanuel Andren on the deck of the Intrepid just beneath the museum’s recent star arrival, the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
