Yves Saint Laurent Launches Boutique in Shanghai’s Réel Department Store

French luxury fashion house, Yves Saint Laurent, led by creative director Hedi Slimane, has launched its first ready-to-wear Saint Laurent Paris boutique at Shanghai’s Réel Department Store.

With an established presence in multiband stores and malls in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Harbin and Wuhan, Yves Saint Laurent has launched its first ready-to-wear Saint Laurent boutique. Located in Shanghai’s Réel Department Store, the boutique is 3,200 square feet and is just one of many upcoming boutiques set to open in the coming months.

Featuring predominantly black and white marble, the boutique includes raw concrete, gold, silver and mirrored glass. The space references the French Art Deco and Union des Artistes Moderns movements with 30s-inspired displays and furnishings. The store concept reflects Slimane’s intention to catapult the brand in a new direction.

The fact that Yves Saint Laurent chose Shanghai as the first location for Saint Laurent Paris implies that China’s high-end fashion market remains key for luxury brands looking for continued growth.

Slimane’s new collections will hit shelves in January 2013, but in the meantime the new boutique will be stocked with products designed by Slimane’s predecessor, Stefano Pilati.

The new boutique is located at Réel Department Store, 1600 Nanjing Xi Lu, Shanghai.
