Haute Fashion Reviews BCBG Spring 2013 Show from NYFW

Designer Max Azria kicked off New York Fashion Week in style with the BCBG Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear show at the Lincoln Center on September 6. The diaphanous silhouettes associated with BCBG were on full display, but unique leather detailing made this collection feel fresh.

As leather roared onto the scene last fall, it turned up everywhere in iterations from jackets to pants and dresses. Wearers exuded a tough-luxe look, but rarely could the effect be called feminine. The Spring 2013 RTW collection by BCBG managed to accomplish this rarity, showcasing a delicate yet tough look. Leather harnesses gave structure to cascades of lighter-than-air silk in shades of cream and black. Oversized leather jackets worn slung over the shoulders lent an edge to soft, billowing skirts. Demure lace tops were paired with sexy leather pencil skirts. Pops of orangey red and sky blue completed the color palate.
