Haute Event: Betsey Johnson’s 70th Birthday and Spring 2013 Runway Show
Downtown style institution Betsey Johnson presented her eponymous label’s new line and celebrated her 70th birthday in idiosyncratically colorful style at Espace last night. Models in taffeta gowns mirrored the giant birthday cake that eventually overtook the runway as Cyndi Lauper performed and Johnson, the onetime Warhol Factory outfitter and timeless youthquaker, marked 70 with her patented cartwheels and mid-catwalk splits.
