Barbra Streisand to Perform for First Time in 5 Years at Hollywood Bowl

Legendary singer Barbra Streisand will be making a stop at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles as part of her 2012 concert tour, the first tour she has done in five years.

Streisand’s upcoming tour will take her to cities such as Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver, Las Vegas and San Jose. She has also announced that she will be making a stop at the Hollywood Bowl on November 9 for an 8 p.m. concert – the only Los Angeles stop on the tour.

Streisand will perform some of her most famous numbers and jazz trumpeter Chris Botti and operatic pop tenor group Il Volo will make appearances as well. This is not the first time Streisand has appeared at the Bowl; in 1967 she performed a concert called “An Evening with Barbra Streisand.”

The 70-year-old singer is an accomplished actress, writer, singer, producer and director. She has earned numerous awards including 8 Grammy Awards, 2 Academy Awards and 5 Emmy Awards. She has also won a Peabody Award, a Daytime Emmy, American Film Institute Award and a Special Tony Award. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Streisand has been an active entertainer for 55 years and over the years she has sold 71.5 million albums in the U.S. and 140 million albums worldwide. She has produced 32 top ten albums since 1963 and her mot recent album “Love is the Answer”, which came out in 2009, made her one of the only singers to have number one status albums in 5 decades in a row. In total, she has released a total of 51 Gold albums, 30 Platinum albums and 13 multi platinum albums in the U.S.

Tickets to the upcoming show will go on sale on September 24 at 10 a.m.
