Pierre Ouaknine

Entrepreneur | July 28, 2012

Women are very picky about who lays a hand on their hair. But it will be in great hands, literally, by Pierre Ouaknine. Immigrating from Casablanca with his 12 siblings and parents to New York City in the mid-sixties, Pierre never imagined being co-owner of one of the hautest and most enduring salons in all of America. Along with his childhood friend, Michel Obadia, they founded Pierre Michel Salon. Once Pierre was in America looking for employment, he found employment with the salon that would later join forces with Revlon. After an encounter with Creative Director of ad giant DDB Worldwide, Pierre was doing sittings for fashion magazines as well as television commercials and print ads. Top models started contacting Pierre to offer his services as a hairdresser and joined an elite team of hairdressers. Donald Trump made them an offer they couldn’t refuse to move their location from West 57th Street to the newly renovated Trump Towers. Once established there, the salon offered some of the most innovative and highly advanced beauty services.
