The Duke and Duchess Stun the Crowd at Our Greatest Team Rises Gala

The crowd roared in delight and fascination as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stole the spotlight at the Our Greatest Team Rises Gala in honor of the London Olympic Games 2012. The event took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on May 11, 2012.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess, looked gorgeous in a teal Jenny Packham dress, Jimmy Choo ‘Vamp’ sandals and an intricately knotted bun by a stylist team from the Richard Ward salon in Chelsea.

The celebratory gala marked the final countdown to the 2012 London Olympic Games that begin on July 27. It also raised funds to support the competitors.

The gala kicked off with a humorous and clever speech by Prince William, who said, “These Games remind us of the power of the human spirit and human endeavor. You, our Olympians and Paralympians, will inspire people up and down this country, and far beyond its borders”. He closed off his speech by saying, “The mood in London will be electric, ecstatic, amazing. I just can’t simply wait.”

Other notable guests included British Olympic champions, Sir Steve Redgrave, Dame Kelly Holmes and Sally Gunnell, as well as a performance by Kimberley Walsh and tenor Alfie Boe.
