RumFire Opens at the Sheraton Kauai Resort
The popular Waikiki hot spot RumFire is bringing its innovative menus and cocktails — with a stellar view, of course — to Kauai.
RumFire Poipu Beach Kauai opened this month at the Sheraton Kauai Resort, with a menu boasting locally grown ingredients in island-style ethnic dishes inspired by both traditional Hawaiian delicacies and the state’s multiethnic culture.
And like its first location in the Sheraton Waikiki, this RumFire boasts some of the best views of Poipu Beach. All 240 seats have nearly 180-degree unobstructed views of the ocean.
“When you walk into the new RumFire, you will be amazed because there is nothing like this on the island of Kauai,” says Chip Bahouth, general manager of the Sheraton Kauai Resort, in a news release.
And this RumFire has a different look and feel from the one in Waikiki. This restaurant is broader, more open. There are floor-to-ceiling windows in the restaurant and lounge. And there are two 10-seat communal tables in the open kitchen, allowing guests to view live demonstrations from executive chef and local Hawaii Island girl Leanne Kamekona and her seasoned staff.
Kamekona’s uniquely crafted menu — many of which are made using local ingredients — span from small plates to robust wok-seared dishes. Some of the highlights include ahi poke-filled taquitos, Hawaiian paella with chayote rice and fresh local fish, and a pork chop that’s brined for 48 hours then baked in the restaurant’s brick oven.
“My inspiration behind RumFire’s menu is Hawaiian classic dishes from the past, including my father’s recipes, paired with global influences from my travels around the world,” Kamekona says.
The bar features 33 seats and a menu with new and creative libations such as the RumFire Mango Mojito and the Scorched Strawberry.
The opening of this restaurant/lounge highlights the completion of the resort’s $16 million revitalization.
RumFire is open daily from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. for breakfast buffet, 5 to 9:30 p.m. for dinner. The bar is open until 11 p.m. every night.
