As the designer of his own label and the creative director of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs manages to stay afloat, and prolific, while creating several collections per season because “each fashion house is so different”.
The designer works on his own label while he’s in New York but travels to the French capital for his Vuitton creations. While designing the collections for Louis Vuitton, Jacobs says he likes to get into character.
“For me it’s a total fantasy to be surrounded by such romance, history and culture. I feel like Audrey Hepburn in [movie] Funny Face,” he joked. With a clear vision of what the women who wear Vuitton designs like, Jacobs is able to conjure up the way the accessorize their outfits too.
