Winners of the National “Golden Mask” Award Announced in Moscow

In Moscow the winners of “Golden Mask” were announced at the Bolshoi Theatre. Of course, in the genre of “Opera” there were overall different categories with eleven opera productions presented in each of them, including two awards for “Hoffman Tales” from Stanislavski and Nemirovich – Danchenko Musical theatre, ‘Best conductor’ which went to Yevgeniy Brazhnik and “Golden Mask” for ‘Best opera production.’

Other awards announced ‘Best female artist’ went to Albina Shagimuratova for her brilliant role in “Lucia di Lammermoor” performed at the Tatar Opera and Ballet Theater in Kazan. Also, George Isaakyan won the ‘Golden Mask’ for ‘Best opera director’ for “Love for Three Oranges” staged at Natalia Sats Children’s Musical Theater. Willard White of “Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Mariinsky Theatre won “Best male artist’ for his role as Bottom.
