Red Bull is Paving the Road to Basel with Host Domingo Zapata

Red Bull Curates: The Road to Basel is touring the United States and giving artists wings. Domingo Zapata and Jon Reiss will host the LA launch of Red Bull Curates: The Road to Basel on Thursday, April 5th at Los Angeles’ premier street art gallery Lab Art.

This will be the first stop of the four-city, Red Bull-sponsored tour which is hosted by renowned artist Domingo Zapata and produced by Art Fund’s Bill Franchey. The tour will engage 20 local emerging artists in each city who will participate in an innovative art creation platform that will culminate in the opportunity to showcase their work at an all expense paid showcase at a Miami art fair during the 2012 Art Basel season.

The artists’ creative processes will also be memorialized in a series of mini-documentaries filmed by an award-winning Indie director. The Road to Basel (Los Angeles) will feature work from some of the city’s most innovative contemporary artists on canvas-wrapped Red Bull mini-fridges. During the production process, artists will create their works in concert on premises at Lab Art, Los Angeles’ premier street art gallery.
