Haute Event: 12th Annual International Beverly Hills Film Festival Opening Night

The 12th Annual International Beverly Hills Film Festival kicked opened Wednesday night with the U.S. premier of “The Black Tulip” at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences in Los Angeles.

Directed by Sonia Nassery Cole, “The Black Tulip” depicts a family torn from their home by the Taliban and finding new hope in opening a restaurant which becomes a beacon of hope to local artists and poets.

The film was shot entirely in Afghanistan and was the country’s official entry for the Foreign Language Film Award at the 83rd Academy Awards.

Among the attendees were  Sonia Nassery Cole; Anne Heche, James Tupper; Beau Dunn, Genevieve Farrell, Davina Ferreira, Nino Simone, Rafael Lanus and Kelly LeBrock.
