Fashion house Bottega Veneta is offering a custom-made handbag for Christie’s Green Auction: A Bid to Save the Earth, a charity event that will take place on April 11 at New York City’s Rockefeller Center.
Celebrating designers’ artistic fineness, the annual event is in its third year and brings together glamour, social consciousness, international collectors, fashionistas and philanthropists. During the live auction, Bottega Veneta will be offering a personalized handbag to one lucky bidder who will select from Veneta’s collection of handbags and then choose its shape, skin texture and colors to match his or her personal style.
Earnings from the sale of the handbag will benefit Christie’s Green Auction campaign, which brought in nearly $2.4 million last year for global non-profit organizations like Natural Resources Defense Council, the Central Park Conservancy and Conservation International.
The bespoke leather item can range from a $800 wallet to a $14,500 crocodile skin portfolio bag in addition to the ultimate handbag priced at $80,000, which could take between 6-8 months to receive. In addition to bidding at the auction, interested bidders can place their order through participating Bottega Veneta US stores that are not linked to the Christie’s auction.

Following an exclusive cocktail reception presented by Grey Goose® Vodka, the live auction will offer attendees the opportunity to purchase rare, one-of-a-kind fantasy lots – which in past years have included opportunities to: enjoy a day with President Clinton; experience the ultimate treatment at the Oscars®; and sit from row at the Chanel Couture shows in Paris.
The Green Auction is a private and invite-only event.
