Haute Auto: BMW Introduces Plug-in Hybrid BMW i8 Concept Spyder
The BMW Group has just introduced the BMW i8 Concept Spyder to the mix. The third BMW i model, part of a range of purpose-built vehicle concepts and complementary mobility services, embodies the future of cutting-edge and emotionally appealing mobility concepts.
The BMW i8 Concept Spyer combines intelligent lightweight design and state-of-the-art hybrid technology with genuine sports car performance, although its fuel efficiency is equal to that of a small car. Among the most eye-catching features are the upward-swivelling, windowless doors and a range of purpose-oriented, on-board equipment, including electric kick-boards stowed under a transparent tailgate.
The cherry on top is the BMW i8 Concept Spyder’s plug-in hybrid capability powered by an eDrive drivetrain combing a high-performance electric motor with power that can be recharged in a short time from any domestic power socket.
