Haute 100 Los Angeles Update: Angelina Jolie Receives Honorary Citizenship In Sarajevo

After drawing attention to Bosnia with her feature film directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey, Angelina Jolie was made an honorary citizen of Sarajevo. The Hollywood star also co-wrote the movie, which depicts the romance between a Serbian soldier and a Bosnian woman during the 1990s war in the troubled area.

Bosnia’s government officials have now decided to recognize Jolie for her “contribution to the preservation of truth about the war in Sarajevo and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and her dedication to protection of the principles of humanity, democracy, tolerance, and solidarity between people of different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.”
