Francis Ford Coppola’s ‘Wine Wonderland’ 2012 Season Opened Friday
The Francis Ford Coppola Winery in Geyersville opened its outdoor Winery Park for the 2012 season Friday.
Initially, it’ll only be open on the weekends, but it’ll be opened seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. starting Memorial Day weekend (May 25) through September 30. In October, the park will remain open on the weekends if the weather permits.
The destination winery in North California’s Alexander Valley has a 3,600 square-foot swimming pool, private cabines (European-style changing rooms), a performing arts pavilion, bocce courts, gaming tables and a pair of dining options including Rustic and the Pool Cafe.
More than 40 wines are produced and available on site, so guests can tour the facility, visit Coppola’s Movie Gallery (he is a famous Hollywood director, after all) and partake in various wine tasting experiences.
Among the new 2012 season offerings are cabine packages that may now be reserved in advance throughout the season. Day-long cabine packages are priced at $125 for general admission and $100 for members of the Francis Ford Coppola Winery’s Wine Family. The package includes four pool passes, lounge chairs, four towels, two complimentary wine tasting flights plus two surprise tastes of exclusive wines and two Francis Ford Coppola Winery commemorative water bottles.
Also new for the 2012 season are early morning group and private swim class sessions throughout July and August and Tasting in the Dark, the adventurous two-hour wine tasting that explores how flavors and aromas in wine are accentuated when they are experienced in complete darkness.
