Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide have just announced that it will open its first dual-branded ski resort complex adjacent to the Slopes of Changbai Mountains in China this summer. The Westin Changbaishan Resort and Sheraton Changbaishan Resort will be located directly next to one of China’s main ski areas and near the Yingfu Expressway and Changbaishan Airport.

Further strengthening Starwood’s reputation as the largest international luxury and upscale hotel operator in China, the dual-branded ski resort complex will begin welcoming guests in August 2012.

Stephen Ho, Starwood’s Senior Vice President of Development for Asia Pacific, said, “We look forward to introducing both Westin and Sheraton to Changbai Mountains with this spectacular, new ski resort complex where guests will enjoy world-class amenities set against the backdrop of one of China’s most visually stunning mountain ranges. China is both our fastest growing global market and our richest source of loyal travelers, and we expect that this dual-branded Starwood resort development will resonate with Chinese travelers who stick with the brands they know and love.”

The Changbai mountain range where the complex will be located is known for its natural beauty, ice skating, ice fishing and downhill trails surrounded by pine forests.

The Westin Changbaishan Resort will offer ski-in-ski-out access, mountain views world-class dining, a Westin Kids Club, a Heavenly® Spa, an indoor pool, 257 guestrooms, White Tea Aloe bath amenities, in-room high-speed internet access and an in-room work space.

The Sheraton Changbaishan Resort will feature 296 guest rooms and suites, mountain or ski views, a Sheraton Club lounge and Sheraton Club rooms that include upgraded amenities. Guest rooms will all feature a large work desk, custom-designed ergonomic chair, high-speed internet, LCD flat panel televisions and MP3 docking stations. Additional onsite amenities include a full-service restaurant and lounge, a spa, an indoor heating swimming pool and a fitness facility.

Together, the resort complex will provide 37,000 square feet of meeting space, including a 13,362-square-foot ballroom and pre-function space.
